Work From Home Alternatives You Should Be Aware Of

As everybody knows by this point, working from home isn’t the great thing people fantasized about. Sure you can use your home as an office and get stuff done, but it is far from ideal. There are just too many distractions and opportunities to procrastinate, so when you are having a hard  or boring day at work you can just make an excuse and stop instead of powering through and turning things around.

Here are 4 work from home alternatives you should be aware of:

A coffee shop

Working from your favorite coffee shop is a fantastic alternative to working from home. They usually have decent wifi, snacks, productivity boosting white noise, and the best part is you can drink some great coffee while you work. This of course is what you get from working at a coffee shop on a fantastic day, because on a regular day you might find that the internet is not good enough for a video conference, the snacks aren’t all that healthy, the noise is unbearable, and your coffee habit may be expensive.

The library

The library is a great place to work, especially if you need to really focus on a task. It is quiet, it has great wifi, and it is designed for long sessions of focused work. The key word here is “focused”, because that is the only kind of work you can actually do at the library. Forget about having a video conference or any kind of business calls in this space.

A park

When the weather is nice you might want to enjoy it by working from your favorite park. The beautiful scenery can serve as an inspiration, and just by being in nature you might feel invigorated and more productive. And you can stay there as long as you want, or as long as it doesn’t rain. The downside is the lack of wifi, but that can be easily remedied by using your smartphone as a hotspot.

A coworking space

Coworking spaces are great alternatives to working from home. Renting a desk or a private office is a simple process, and you can find everything you expect from an office setting like high speed internet, a printer/scanner, and even meeting rooms in case you need to use them. At a coworking space you are surrounded by other professionals who are there to get work done, and this ambiance will definitely inspire you to be productive yourself.

These are just a few of the many alternatives to working from your home, but the idea is to give you some ideas to get you started. So go out there and explore, try these spaces out on different days and for different tasks and see what works for you and what just doesn’t.
