Its’ the year of the tablet—and Davinci Virtual Office Solutions is giving one away. Even as Apple CEO Steve Jobs prepares to meet with President Obama, Davinci is preparing to put a smile on the face of another virtual office user.

"Apple's launch of the iPad has left an undeniable print  on the mobile  computing space. After a decade with minimal success, a tablet computing device is finally garnering mass-market appeal," says Shawn Dubravac, chief economist and director of research for the Consumer Electronics Association. "There are many factors driving this trend—not least of which is timing. The global appeal of Apple's iPad is simultaneously brazening others to enter the fold and compete for this quickly growing market."

In case you haven’t had a proper introduction to the iPad, here is an introduction: iPad’s Multi-Touch interface makes surfing the Web an entirely new experience, dramatically more interactive and intimate than on a computer.

You can read and send e-mail on iPad’s large screen and almost full-size “soft” keyboard or import photos from a Mac, PC or digital camera, see them organized as albums, and enjoy and share them using iPad’s elegant slideshows. iPad makes it easy to watch movies, TV shows and YouTube, all in HD, or flip through the pages of an ebook you downloaded from Apple’s new iBookstore while listening to your music collection.

Normally, the iPad costs $499 for the entry-level model. Davinci Virtual is giving you a chance to get your hands on one for free. There’s no catch. Financial Planners Increasingly Use Virtual Office Space

About 20 percent of financial planning firms with between one and five employees offer telecommuting. And about 21 percent of financial planning firms with six to 30 employees and 27 percent of firms with 31 or more employees offer this alternative workplace strategy. So says the 2010-2011 Financial Planning Survey from the Financial Planning Association.

Those are points highlighted in an article in Financial Planning called, “The Perks of Telecommuting for Advisors.” The article by Donna Mitchell explores Parsippany, N.J.-based Summit Financial Resources, a wealth management firm that does not sit down face to face with prospective clients. The firm uses teleconferences instead.

“About 90 percent of its professionals are based in Parsippany, and it runs offices in New York City, Westchester and Fairfield County, Conn., and the firm manages about $3 billion in client assets,” Mitchell writes. The article goes on to say that Summit is not alone in its embrace of teleconferencing. Modern Wealth Management, with offices in Boston and New Jersey, is also on the teleconferencing bandwagon.

What does this signal? The telecommuting and teleconferencing trend is clearly gaining a head of steam in the financial planning industry. Davinci Virtual Office Solutions offers virtual offices in cities like Parsippany and Boston and beyond. Let’s take a look.

Davinci’s virtual offices in Parsippany are located at 181 New Road. Also in the northeast, Davinci’s virtual offices in Boston are located at Ten Post Office Square. Davinci also has virtual office space in nearby Cambridge, Marlborough, and Woburn.

All of these virtual offices have something in common: You get a prime business address, mail package and receipt, access to a business support center, a lobby greeter, a client drop off and pick up point, and mail forwarding and shipping services. You can even rent a conference room or a day office on demand.

So whether you are in the financial planning industry or some other professional services industry, consider the value of telecommuting from a virtual  office. Then reach out to Davinci Virtual. We’ve got virtual offices in cites large and small around the world.

Running from Feb. 14-18, Telework Week is a nationwide effort to encourage agencies, organizations, and individuals to pledge to telework during this five-day period. The organizers of Telework Week want you to know that it’s not too late to pledge to telework.

So far, 37,401 people have pledged to telework. Those are no small numbers.

The Telework Exchange is positioning telework as a win-win opportunity for all. It also supports work-life balance and helps attract new talent and retain a knowledgeable workforce.

Optimize Workplace Plans with Virtual Office Space

We took a look at CRESAPartners principal Robin Weckesser’s view on alternative workplace strategies late last year. Now, the commercial real estate executive is offering more thoughts on this trend. In his latest blog post on the topic, he focuses on the main characteristics of optimizing workplace plans.

In quick summary of his posts, he cites characteristics such as smaller workstations, the new cube (without walls), reconfiguration to fill empty seats, hotelling, open spaces, common areas, and virtual offices.

“As stated earlier, the number of remote work settings is proliferating, thanks to broadband wireless for laptops, smartphones, iPads, and virtual webinar meetings.  Today’s 'office' may be a den, coffee shop, cafeteria, train, mall, motel, etc.” Weckesser writes, noting benefits such as staff recruiting and retention, along with better social networking, that come with optimizing workplace plans.

Davinci Virtual Office Solutions offers companies the help they need executing alternative workplace strategies that include virtual office space. As Weckesser noted, technologies are helping to make virtual office space more practical.

Davinci Virtual Office Solutions offers virtual office space, but also virtual office technologies like Web conferencing and live virtual chat to enable time-efficient meetings. But when you need to meet a client or have a team meeting in a traditional office space, virtual office users in cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and even smaller cities across the country and around the world can rely on Davinci to provide conference rooms and meeting rooms on demand.

An alternative workplace strategy isn’t right for every company—and a virtual office space isn’t right from every organization—but if your group is exploring the many benefits of optimizing workplace plans, virtual office space should be at the top of your list. For pennies on the dollar of leasing traditional office space, you can set up a virtual office infrastructure that drives greater productivity for your business.

Study: 44% of Small Businesses Let Employees Telecommute

One interesting trend that has been on the rise among small business owners, likely due to continually improving technology, is allowing employees to telecommute.

According the annual National Small Business Administration (NSBA) Survey of Small- and Mid-Sized Business, in 1997 only 9 percent of small businesses allowed telecommuting. Ten years later in 2007 that number jumped to 19 percent.

According to NSBA’s most recent technology survey, 44 percent of small businesses allow their employees to telecommute. Although the NSBA admits that the demographics of the two surveys are somewhat different, the group feels there is no doubt that technology improvements have made telecommuting a much more affordable and reliable benefit to offer employees.

These survey results come as no surprise to us here at Davinci Virtual Office Solutions. We’ve watched the rise of telecommuting and have been part of the rise of virtual office space. From Los Angeles on the West Coast to Chicago in the middle of the country to Miami down South and New York in the northeast, Davinci Virtual Office Solutions has been a premier provider of virtual office space since 2006.

But Davinci Virtual Office Solutions offers more than virtual office space. We offer a full gamut of virtual office solutions, from virtual receptionists and virtual assistants to Live Web Chat and web conferencing. We also offer call screening and scheduling services. All the bells and whistles that make a telecommuter’s life easier are ready and available at attractive rates at Davinci.
